The role of the community development worker is to help advise, create and set up groups to provide activities/ services that residents feel is needed in their community. This could mean assisting in funding these groups or helping existing groups search and secure external funding which will allow the group to continue. The worker will also assist in promoting or empowering any existing groups in the area as well as linking these groups to other partner agencies who may be of benefit to the community.
The community development worker will also look at running courses and programmes, which are aimed at giving local people the skills and confidence to help make a difference to their community.
The community development worker will seek to work with partner agencies to assist in providing services to the local community through partnership working and joint financing. The worker will also look to address any shortfalls in service provision in the Boldon Area.
