I have lots of garden insects coming indoors, what can I do?

Garden insects spend most of the summer outdoors feeding and multiplying in conditions which they enjoy. When the weather changes towards autumn time they may look to come indoors. Draft proofing doors and windows and ensuring the garden is well kept with debris removed from boundary walls may help discourage the insects. In older properties where settlement has occurred sealing cracks and crevices around the boundary walls may also prevent access. Powders and dusts containing bendiocarb may be purchased from local DIY stores and can be applied internally around skirting areas to give additional protection.
Garden mites may be a problem on exposed south facing or west facing walls and windows during the summer months when large numbers of insects may be noticed. These insects are of no public health significance and will disappear when the sunshine ceases.
Garden insect treatments are chargeable unless you are a council tenant or in receipt of housing or full council tax benefit.
