Since 2000 we have helped nearly 80,000 long term unemployed and disadvantaged people to return to work. This is a significant achievement. We work with some of the hardest to help groups, including many people who have been out of work for a number of years. Based in the centre of Newcastle in Citygate, Government Office North East represents ten central government departments across the entire region. Groundwork supports communities in need, working with partners to help improve the quality of people’s lives, their prospects and potential and the places where they live, work and play. Our role is often to find ways of helping local people get practically involved in making decisions and managing improvements in their neighbourhood. We operate locally, regionally, and nationally in the UK working with others to add value to wider plans and strategies. In Boldon we are running a training and employment project which is available to anyone who is unemployed, a lone parent or on incapacity benefit. The project provides the opportunity to take part in training. In the past 18 months the training courses provided have ranged from Fork Lift Truck to Nursery Assistant courses. We also provide a drop-in facility every Tuesday at Boldon Village Hall 11.30-1.30pm in partnership with TEN and Working Links. This has proved very popular and we get repeat visits from residents wanting advice and guidance around employment and training opportunities. The training courses are funded by both ESF and Included Communities Fund (Community Foundation). The project is managed by the Outreach Manager, Julie Crocker who works part-time for Groundwork in South Tyneside tel: 07739 519198 email: julie.crocker@groundwork.org.uk For more information about Groundwork in South Tyneside and Newcastle visit www.groundworkstan.org.uk John Burnett (Chair) 0191 536 6320 Chris Wake (Secretary) 0191 536 9985 The Private Rented Accreditation Scheme is deigned to provide both landlords and tenants with greater security. Tenants are promised safe and well maintained homes and the landlords can be supplied with vetted tenants and offer their membership of the scheme as a sign that they are a responsible landlord. Visit www.northumbria.police.uk for more information We are one of the leading providers of affordable and supported housing for people in the UK. We work to deliver improvements to communities and provide homes for those who may struggle to get them. We also offer services, through Stonham, to help adults take control of their lives. Our homes are in places where people want to live and where there is a strong and thriving community. By making a difference locally, providing excellent customer service and being flexible and adaptable, we will meet the needs and demands of the people who live in the neighbourhoods we serve. Home has a turnover in excess of £230m, manages 52,000 homes and provides care and support services to more than 14,000 people across the UK each year. We also aim to build more than 2,000 additional affordable homes every year.
